Yes, freeze-dried food can form part of a routine that includes kibble. First decide whether you are introducing a complete meal or adding a meal topper. Those are different uses, and the food you choose should match what you want it to do.
You might want to introduce a different food gradually, offer another texture or add flavour to an existing meal. Start with a clear purpose and follow the instructions for each product.
If you are changing the main diet, use our switching guide. Adding a topper to an established meal is a different decision from moving your dog onto a new complete food.
Pets True House adult freeze-dried meals are sold as complete foods. The Chicken, Beef, Turkey and Fish recipes each contain 80% named meat or fish, with fruit, vegetables, vitamins and minerals.
Our Chicken, Beef and Fish toppers are made to sprinkle over your dog's usual food. Each contains 97.5% meat or fish with vitamins and minerals. Choose them for an addition to mealtimes rather than treating a sprinkle as a replacement for the main diet.
Fish topper combines white fish and salmon. If ingredient choice matters for your dog, read the full composition rather than relying on the recipe name alone.
Do not assume that keeping the full existing meal and adding a second complete meal gives an appropriate daily amount. Consider everything your dog eats, including treats and other extras.
Equal weights of two foods are not necessarily equivalent portions. Ask for advice if you want an ongoing mixed diet and are unsure how to balance the foods. This guide does not prescribe topper quantities.
For a complete freeze-dried meal, check our adult feeding guide. If your dog has a prescribed diet, discuss additions with your vet before changing it.
For a complete meal: explore our adult freeze-dried recipes, available in 150 g packs and multipacks.
For an addition to your usual food: explore Chicken, Beef and Fish toppers, or the three-recipe variety pack. Individual topper options contain one, three or six 50 g pouches.
Keep topper packs cool and dry and use them within ten days of opening. For other products, follow their own storage guidance. Our serving guide explains the difference.
