Freeze-Dried Raw vs Frozen Raw vs Kibble: A Practical Guide
The right format has to fit both your dog's dietary needs and the way you feed at home. Freeze-dried raw removes the need to store a frozen meal, frozen raw needs a cold-storage routine, and kibble offers another dry option. None of those descriptions tells you everything about the recipe.

Storage and preparation
Freeze-dried raw is useful when you want a raw format but have limited freezer space or do not want to plan defrosting. Our adult meal range comes in 150 g pouches, with larger total quantities supplied as multipacks. Keep the original food stored as the pack directs and reseal it after use.
Frozen raw can work for owners who have freezer space and a routine for thawing portions. Follow the chosen product's instructions for thawing, refrigeration and use after preparation. Do not borrow those times from a different brand or assume frozen food can remain at room temperature.
Kibble is also practical for dry storage and straightforward portioning. Recipes vary, so compare the actual food rather than assuming every kibble has the same ingredients, meat content or suitability.
All food requires clean equipment and appropriate handling. Dry appearance should not be treated as proof that raw food is free from harmful bacteria. Wash hands and feeding equipment and follow the manufacturer's instructions. FDA: safe handling of pet food
Understand portions before comparing price
Wet, frozen and dry foods contain different amounts of water. A 100 g portion of one food is therefore not automatically an equivalent daily serving of another.
Look at the feeding amount for the recipe you intend to buy, and compare the cost of providing that amount. A price per bag or per kilogram is useful shopping information, but it does not tell you the full daily feeding cost on its own.
For a simple pack-duration example, a 150 g pouch would last 1.5 days at an already established 100 g daily ration. That is arithmetic, not a recommended ration or a comparison with a particular frozen food.
Avoid claims that a small pouch equals a certain number of tins unless the comparison explains what is being matched. Food weight, calories and nutritional completeness are separate things.
Check whether it is a complete food
Some products are intended as meals; others are additions. Do not choose a product for full-time feeding solely because its front label names meat or calls it raw. Check its complete-food statement and suitability for your dog's life stage. UK Pet Food: complete foods and other FAQs
Pets True House adult Chicken, Beef, Turkey and Fish meals are sold as complete adult recipes with 80% named meat or fish. Chicken Puppy Food is a separate recipe with its own guide. Our toppers are presented for adding to meals; sprinkling instructions are not a full-meal plan.
Which fits your routine?
You want raw food without a freezer routine. Freeze-dried raw may be a practical option. You can weigh the dry pieces, serve them as directed and keep the rest in their resealed pouch. Check the opening-life instructions so your chosen pack size fits how quickly you use it.
You already manage frozen meals comfortably. Compare the actual recipes and costs before changing. Convenience may be a reason to consider freeze-dried food, but there is no need to claim every frozen food is nutritionally identical to every freeze-dried product.
You want an everyday dry format. Kibble and cold-pressed foods are also worth understanding. Our drying and pressing comparison explains how the formats differ without treating a manufacturing label as a quality score.

Choose an adult Chicken, Beef, Turkey or Fish meal, or explore the four-recipe adult variety pack. If you introduce different recipes, do so thoughtfully rather than changing several foods at once.
Before buying, check adult daily feeding amounts and serving and storage instructions. Those pages help connect a product choice with the amount and preparation you will use at home.
If you feed more than one dog, work out each dog's portion separately before deciding how much to order. A shared shopping basket does not mean the same recipe or daily quantity is appropriate for every dog in the household.

Comparison questions
Is every freeze-dried dog food raw?
No. Freeze-drying describes a process, so check the individual product. This guide's freeze-dried raw column refers to products sold as raw, including the Pets True House range.
Does adding water make freeze-dried food the same as frozen raw?
It softens the food, but it does not establish that two different recipes have identical composition or nutrition. Compare their own declarations.
Is freeze-dried automatically healthier than kibble?
That cannot be concluded from format alone. Suitability, the full formulation and individual needs matter. Choose using clear product information rather than a universal ranking of food types.
